Riding high on record last wicket partnership between Ravi Rampaul and Kemar Roach, West Indies managed to set 270 runs in the second ODI here at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

It was Ravi Rampaul’s last moment cameo which took visitors to put competitive total on score board. Rampaul scored quickfire half century at the end to lift West Indies from early slump. He smashed six sixes and as many boundaries to score unbeaten 86 runs in just 66 balls. This is the highest score by a No.10 batsman.

Rampaul played heroics innings came at a time when West Indies were struggling for 170/9. Rampaul added record 94 runs along with Kemar Roach for the last wicket partnership in last 14 overs.


Put into the bat, West Indies were reduced to 63/5 and at one stage it seemed that West Indies would be all out before the 50 overs. But it was real moral victory for visitors to finish 269/9 at the end.


Opener Simmons also gave vital contribution of 78 runs and added 56 runs along with Pollard 35.


For India, Umesh Yadav took three wickets while Vinay Kumar and Jadeja claimed two wickets each. R Ashwin scalped one batsman.

Earlier, Indian skipper Virender Sehwag won the toss and elected to field against West Indies in the second ODI here at Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium on Friday.

India have made no changes in the playing XI while West Indies made one change in the side. Ravi Rampaul is in for Martin.


Earlier,The toss between India and West Indies in the 2nd ODI here at The Visakhapatnam delayed due to light drizzle.

However, good news is that covers are off now and players are in the middle at this moment.

Match preview:

After registering 10th victory in a row on the home soil, India have been eying to continue the momentum going in the second ODI against West Indies here at Visakhapatnam on Friday.

The home side has opportunity to extend the lead to 2-0 here at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy stadium.


Meanwhile, the young ‘Team India’ is desperately looking improved batting performance after poor show of top order in the Cuttack ODI.


In the first ODI, Team India narrowly escaped defeat due to excellent batting performance by Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja to take India one wicket victory.


Indian batsmen failed to give smooth victory in the game after inexperienced bowlers restricted visitors to paltry 211 runs. Chasing a modest total of 212, half-of the Indian side returned to hut for just 60 runs but it was Rohit and Jadeja, who secured the win in first game of five-match series.


However, Indian skipper Virender Sehwag believes that 2nd ODI will be high scoring match with improved batting performance by the batsmen.


On the other hand, West Indies side has made impressive performance in the Cuttack ODI after playing draw in Mumbai Test.


It is expected that both the side will be unchanged for today’s encounter.
