Determine what motivates you and keep that top of mind.

I love how good I feel after a workout. My body feels strong and I feel energized. As a fitness instructor, I love to exercise and I am motivated by the exhilarating feeling that comes from exercise, and in helping others find that for themselves. But what motivates you? If you attempt to adopt a healthier lifestyle, it won’t last long if you are trying to motivate yourself with what works for someone else. I know there are people out there who dislike exercise, and don’t run out of the house to do it. You don’t need to pretend you like exercise, just figure out what motivates you to do it anyway. Maybe you dread working up a sweat, but you love how you feel after, (you know, when you are done). Conjure up how good you feel after a workout—to motivate you to stick to it. Maybe you are motivated by not wanting to gain weight. If that’s true, remind yourself of that each day.
